Curriculum

The Creative Curriculum is a forward thinking, whole-child focused, research-based and research-proven curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning. This enables children to develop confidence, creativity, lifelong critical thinking skills, solve problems and connect ideas. The Creative Curriculum is designed to help educators at all levels of experience plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, content-rich program for children with diverse backgrounds and skill levels. The Creative Curriculum is broken down into 6 units of study for children 3, 4 and 5 years of age. While the 2-year-old, toddlers and infants focus on routines and experiences.

Infant Program:

The infant program enrolls children as young as 3 months old. An infant and service needs plan will be created with the teacher and parent. Parents and teachers will meet quarterly to update. The infant curriculum is designed for children from 3 months to 24 months. The Experience Baby curriculum is a relationship-based model, which provides experiences to support learning and development. It is flexible and supports healthy and caring routines. At Small World, we are focused on keeping your baby happy, engaged, and secure. We personalize care for each infant based on his or her unique schedule, nutritional guidelines, and any other special attention he/she requires.

Preschool Program:

The preschool program serves children between the ages of 24 months to entry to first grade. This program is filled with investigation, exploration, and discovery, where active and enthusiastic children can refine and expand their skills and knowledge. Through intentional teaching practices, purposefully designed learning environments, and enriched activities, teachers ensure preschoolers have joyful, appropriate, and meaningful learning experiences that lead to success in school and in life. The curriculum aligns preschool program goals and practices with the California Common Core Standards. You can view how our curriculum aligns with these standards online:
